I have a {small} obsession with collecting birth and postpartum related books. It combines my two loves–reading and birth/babies! I know that no amount of reading really prepares you for what your labor may feel like but going into birth in an informed and educated way is essential.

If you are first time birther, you may want to check out some these highlights from my copious stack:

Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin

Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin

The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin

Mindful Birthing by Nancy Bardacke, CNM

Birthing from Within by Pam England, CNM and Rob Horowitz

The Gentle Birth Method by Dr. Gowri Motha

Natural Hospital Birth by Cynthia GabrielĀ

The Mindful Mom to Be: A Modern Doula’s Guide to Building a Healthy Foundation from Pregnancy Through Birth

See which book(s) spark your interest and dive in!
